How Well Rooted Clothing Keeps Branching Out
There’s one thing all businesses hope to do – grow. For Daisy Banaria, owner of Well Rooted Clothing, every new idea means a possibility for growth. In 2020, Daisy and her husband already owned Whats.Proppin, a small business specializing in handmade wooden plant propagation stations. So, when Daisy found a new passion, she decided to turn it into an extension of their business.
“I developed a hobby for plants at the start of the pandemic in early 2020 and wanted to express my love for them in a way that fit my personal taste in minimalist design,” Daisy said. “That was what lit the fire to branch out into a t-shirt business.”
Branching out meant a whole new set of learning curves, but Daisy credits the Sacramento community and social media for spreading the word about Well Rooted Clothing. The new small business venture officially kicked off in February 2021.
“I haven’t been on the scene for very long, but what a whirlwind it has been,” Daisy said. “One of my popular shirts says, ‘Love over hate.’ It was a design I came up with in response to the recent hate toward the Asian community. What’s great about the message is that it encompasses all experiences. It’s simple but powerful.”
With confidence backed by community support, Daisy started her own Etsy shop and created various designs of clothing. Between plant themes and positive messages, Well Rooted Clothing reflects the small business owner’s optimism and love for growth. She welcomes the holiday season and all the bustle that comes with it, even when balancing several roles at once.
“I am a one-woman shop,” Daisy explained. “Well Rooted Clothing is my side hustle in addition to working as an essential healthcare worker and being a mom to two young, energetic boys.”
Daisy finds support and encouragement within the small business community, both in person and online. Social media isn’t just her greatest marketing tool, but also a place to genuinely connect with fellow business owners and customers.
“The community has been so supportive both in person and on social media, and I honestly did not expect it,” Daisy said. “Continue to spread the love!”
