From Cartoon Kids to Creative Coworkers

Landon Lee and CJ Mendez watched a lot of cartoons as kids. The movement, the colors, the details — it was all part of their subconsciously growing fascination with the world of motion graphics.

Years later, when Landon and CJ met at Sacramento State, their childhood cartoon obsession led to an instantaneous friendship. 

“We met as students of Sac State’s famously demanding two-year graphic design program,” Landon said. “We quickly hit it off between our shared sense of humor and appreciation for movies and television.”

As the two expanded their graphic design skills, they also recognized a need in the world of design — one they now hope to fill as co-owners of Noble Creative Collective.

“Noble Creative Collective was created to address a need we saw in the design community, for better transparency between creatives and their clients,” Landon explained. “We were also ready to create strong creative products without having to sacrifice the principles that make design so important.”

The business has expanded the creative capacities of its clients with motion graphics for websites, digital cards, educational videos, and so much more. As both their talents and audiences expand, Landon and CJ are excited to work on new projects.

“We’re eager to lean more heavily into our unique motion graphics skillset,” Landon said. “Every day, we’re learning new skills and techniques to firmly position ourselves as Sacramento’s go-to motion graphics powerhouse.”

From college friends to co-owners, the pair and their business have deep roots in Sacramento. For them, a successful business isn’t just about leaning into those roots, but also giving back to the community that connected them.

“Sacramento has been nothing short of amazing to us. We’ve had opportunities to share our learnings in graphic design and motion graphics with local schools and learning programs. We’ve also worked with both local and regional organizations to help bring big ideas to local markets,” Landon said. “Sometimes, we offer up a ‘Noble Deed’ or two to the occasional business to help them flourish. By allowing us to continue supporting our neighbors who need a professional touch, they continue to support us.”

With the same creativity and liveliness that make their graphics so vibrant, Landon and CJ are using their business to bring that same vibrancy to Sacramento.

Not bad for two kids who watched a lot of cartoons.
