By prioritizing our core economic initiatives with a strategic framework, the six-county Sacramento Region will thrive as a more prosperous, equitable, and resilient region.
Achieving an Inclusive Economic Recovery in the Sacramento Region
In 2020, our chamber alongside the Prosperity Partnership convened leaders and community members across the Greater Sacramento region to build upon a two-year effort to create a six-county inclusive economic strategy that will be Our Path Forward for both near-term economic recovery and growth for the future.
There are three urgent crises converging on the six-county Sacramento Region:
- A sudden, painful recession has put thousands out of work and closed hundreds of businesses.
- Unaddressed social inequity and injustice have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing recession.
- The impacts of climate change are accelerating – water supplies, flood control systems, and forests and communities are increasingly vulnerable to wildfires.
Recovery requires a coordinated strategy in a more inclusive and resilient regional economy. Being anchored in industry sectors that address emerging societal needs while providing high-road jobs and regional growth opportunities for the future, we can help these communities succeed.
2021 INVESTMENT AGENDA
The 2021 Investment Agenda provides a roadmap to help accelerate our recovery. By beginning to heal the social and economic inequity and under investments that have held back some of our communities, we can be prepared for the foreseeable consequences of a changing climate. We urge decision-makers to prioritize funding for the recovery projects we’ve outlined here based upon socioeconomic data and evidence with the input of hundreds of area residents.
This agenda is a result of four collaborative plenary group sessions, three engaging community listening sessions, and one dedicated Prosperity Partnership.
